Washington State Greens considering venue change for Spring Gathering
Washington State Greens have put us on notice that we may be forced to take the Spring Gathering to on online format unless Corona Virus epidemic improves. It appears that the virus may be with us for many months, according to some reports. Although this is disappointing because of the amount of creativity and effort our locals have put into making the event special, our first priority must be the health and safety of our guests.
Washington State Governor has asked people to commit to "social distancing" and, as I understand it, to cancel all but the most necessary events and activities where people would be gathering. (https://www.governor.wa.gov/tags/covid-19-coronavirus)
Please keep checking our Facebook events page for any potential changes in the venue, but it seems likely the local event will be canceled. This would have been the first time ever for the Green Party's Spring Gathering to be held in the Tri-Cities, Washington region, but Green Party of the MId-Columbia is hopeful that once the threat passes we will have another opportunity to host a statewide event.
Meanwhile, we are asking all local Greens to be as active as possible to show growth and forward movement of the Green Party in the region, while following the recommended guidelines for health and safety during the Corona Virus's unprecedented threat to the health of people here and worldwide.
